What is 2.4GHz all about?
2.4GHz or 2400MHz is relatively new technology but it is one of the big advances in the world of RC. So what does it exactly mean and should you upgrade? Well looking around the web, online RC forums and your local tracks we would say that lot of people swear by this equipment. 2.4GHz radio operates on a substantially higher frequency than what traditional 35MHz equipment does.
Being on such frequency it offers a number of advantages, and one such advantage being that it functions over and above the 27 - 300MHz band, where lot of common interference can occur. Arranged by the user so that a designated receiver will respond only to a chosen model memory of its parent transmitter, the signal from transmitter to model is safe from interference by other 2.4Ghz users whose equipment will detect and ignore any occupied frequencies before scanning for an alternative.
One of the major advantages of such equipment is the fact that it’s impossible to transmit on the same frequency as another flyer and unintentionally shoot him/her down. Overall 2.4GHz offers a valuable safeguard.
